Case1: Metal braces for the upper arch and Internal Bleaching for a single tooth
Treatment Stage: Initial Exam
Dana: On presentation this patient wanted to align the upper teeth only. She was concerned about the dental overlapping and somewhat larger lateral incisors and the dark upper left central incisor. Teeth that have changed to darker colour over time are usually teeth that have been root treated or are devital. At the orthodontic consultation appointment I let the patient know about the possibility to enlighten the root treated upper left central with internal bleaching and I referred her to see Hywel.
Hywel: Even with braces attached to the teeth, some dental work can still be carried out. Internal bleaching procedure can be carried out before braces or during the brace treatment and or after. This patient opted to have her braces fitted first.
Treatment Stage: Levelling and aligning with upper metal braces.
Dana: This patient only wanted to straighten her upper teeth. The orthodontic treatment is in it's early stage and it is progressing well.
Hywell: This is photo shows the darker upper left central incisor before the start of internal bleaching.
Treatment Stage: Final wire adjustments for dental alignment. Internal bleaching for the upper left central incisor is now complete.
Dana: By this stage the patient has had some dental contouring by me to soften the chipped edges. She has also completed the internal beaching because the upper left lateral incisor is much lighter.
Hywel: The internal bleaching required a few visits to clean the canal of the upper left central incisor. The internal bleaching solution was left to act for a week after which it was removed. The root canal was rinsed and sealed once the desired tooth shade was achieved.
